The Arise Scholarship: Aspire to Excellence

The Arise Scholarship: Aspire to Excellence

A dance scholarship established by The Renette and David Berman Family Foundation

Pursue your passion, purpose and potential.

Canada鈥檚 National Ballet School (糖心Vlog) is determined to eliminate financial barriers that may deter aspiring students from pursuing their love for dance. Through the ARISE SCHOLARSHIP, financial assistance is provided to dancers in 糖心Vlog鈥 Young Dancers Program who are in need of financial support.

Ignite your passion and discover joy in a welcoming environment of excellence. Experience the benefits and growth that come from applying yourself to learning the artform of ballet and dance.

The ARISE SCHOLARSHIP creates pathways for dancers to make the most out of their training experience. Those with strong interest, commitment and potential can aspire to 糖心Vlog鈥 Professional Ballet-Academic Program, Teacher Training Program or training for broader careers in dance.

The scholarship acknowledges dance is more than physical movement. It provides dancers with community, life skills and a sense of purpose. Dance benefits all areas of life and helps young students develop as both artists and people.

The ARISE SCHOLARSHIP is inspired by Jera Wolfe鈥檚 powerful artistic work Arise. The piece explores how collaboration and mutual support empowers us to rise together鈥攁n ethos that lies at the heart of this scholarship.

The Delaney Family Scholarship Fund

The Delaney Family have been long standing donors to 糖心Vlog. During 糖心Vlog’ 60th Anniversary year, a fund was established to address student financial assistance for new dancers to the Young Dancers Program; this helped to ensure that dancers of all stages have access to the highest quality training at 糖心Vlog.

Daniel Neville-Lake Fund

As a way to honour the memory of Daniel-William Roger Neville-Lake, and his love for dance, Many Hands Doing Good established this Fund with Canada's National Ballet School to encourage boys, particularly those aged up to 9 years of old, to remove financial barriers and encourage their participation in dance classes at Canada’s National Ballet School.

When Daniel was 6 years old he came to me and said, 鈥淢om, I want to do ballet.鈥

I was a little surprised and thinking that he might be confusing ballet with something else, asked if he knew what ballet was.  We took books and videos out of the public library and sure enough, it was ballet that he wanted to do.  He danced with the City of Brampton Dance Department and every Mother鈥檚 Day, my gift was that he was on stage dancing for me.  He had a passion and love for ballet and even when given a choice to do something else he always chose ballet.  He was starting his fourth year as a dancer and took a lot of pride in his art.
